Arenberg has a rich history as a cultural venue and has undergone a remarkable transformation over the years. It all began in 1852, when the Cercle artistique, littéraire et scientifique d’Anvers established an events hall. In 1929, the hall was converted into a theatre. It was renovated into its current form in the 1960s.
Arenberg evolved from an exclusive nineteenth-century club into a cultural venue offering a wide-ranging programme in the heart of Antwerp. The city itself has changed just as profoundly in recent decades, and the Antwerp of tomorrow is gradually taking shape.
