Cinema Cartoon’s has been a well-established part of Antwerp’s cultural scene since 1978. Despite Antwerp’s reputation as a vibrant film city, Cartoon’s was, for many years, the only place where film lovers could still enjoy films in a welcoming and authentic atmosphere.
When the cinema was declared bankrupt in 2013, numerous campaigns were launched to save this historic gem. The Lumière Group eventually took over Cartoon’s. While preserving its familiar spirit, the group invested in renovating and modernising this Antwerp institution.
Cinema Cartoon’s presents itself as a true city cinema, offering a varied programme for audiences of all ages. Its selection ranges from thought-provoking documentaries and award-winning feature films to modern classics, independent films and unconventional genre films. The monthly programme allows visitors to discover upcoming films and screening times well in advance.
