Calamartes - Culture Week on the City Campus

Calamartes is the University of Antwerp's culture festival.

For a week, our City Campus is dedicated to culture in all its forms: music, theatre, literature, visual arts, film and more.

We will open the festive week on Monday with a ceremonial launch in the beautiful setting of a 19th-century spiegeltent, with speeches and a festive toast to what is to come. A vibrant opening activity will follow later that day, where everyone can literally start the festival on the dance floor.

Student associations will shape the programme. They organise workshops, jazz concerts, walks, exhibitions and many other activities spread throughout the week.

This makes Calamartes not only a cultural highlight, but also a showcase of student engagement and collaboration.

Calamartes is there for everyone. Children from nearby schools are also welcome: every morning they explore the tent with playful activities such as circus workshops or improvisational theatre.

For elderly people from the residential care centre OLV Antwerp, there is the cosy “TD Pensionnée”, with coffee, music and dancing.

In short, Calamartes brings generations together around culture, right in the middle of campus. A week not to be missed as a student.

Organised by Unifac and the student associationsof City Campus.
