At the moment you have a residence permit based on a certain status (student, family reunification, orientation year). As you will receive a contract or postdoctoral scholarship agreement, you will need to change your current status to researcher or employee. This change of status happens via a single permit application.
All non-EEA citizens who will work and reside in Belgium more than 90 days need to apply for a single permit. The single permit application will be submitted by the university. More information about the single permit procedure can be found on this webpage.
