The GIStorical Antwerp-project is being developed at the Centre for Urban History of the University of Antwerp. Director of phase II of the project is Tim Soens. Supervisores are: Bruno Blondé, Greet De Block, Hilde Greefs, Mike Kestemont, Ilse Loots, Stijn Oosterlynck, Peter Stabel and Ilja Van Damme.
Iason Jongepier, Rogier van Kooten and Ellen Janssens are responsible for the implementation of the project. Iason Jongepier is a GIS-expert who finished his historical-geographical PhD entitled "Drowned but not Deserted" and has worked on several heritage projects. Rogier van Kooten will start as PhD researcher on GIStorical II. Ellen Janssens, who graduated in history (Master of Arts), is pursuing a PhD on water supply and the use of urban space in 18th and 19th-century Antwerp. All are exploring the uses of historical GIS in their research, contributing to the further development of GIStorical Antwerp as a cutting-edge tool for interdisciplinary historical research.
