Services:

- ArtWorX: Advanced imaging of Artwork using MAXRF and MAXRD.

- Industrial Vision Lab: offers standard and customised machine vision solutions for industrial inspections.

DynXLab (Dynamic X-ray Laboratory): offers standard and customized solutions for 3D and 4D (i.e. time-resolved) X-ray imaging.

FleXCT: The X-ray Imaging Research Centre offers a range of services to industrial companies, other research groups and institutions: X-ray scanning, reconstruction of the data, data analysis, quality control, defect detection. The team has build the most versatile 3D-image reconstruction platforms for X-ray tomography and other imaging techniques, the ASTRA Toolbox

4D4ALL: Unique in Europe, the new 4D4A Lab is a 4D body scanner of the 3D human body shape including thermal images in high precision adding a 4th dimension, the time. Using Statistical Shape Modeling natural variation within a population of shapes can be studied.

Infrastructure:

X-Ray based Inspection:

  • XCT scanner: an extreme flexible and versatile X-ray scanner (2D, 3D and 4D imaging) for advanced CT.
  • MAXRF scanner: an in-house built mobile Macro X-Ray Fluorescence (MAXRF) scanner, dedicated to the analysis of paintings. MAXRF is a technique that allows to visualize the elemental distribution in different types of flat macroscopic samples such as paintings or illuminated parchments.
  • MAXRPD scanner: a home-made Macroscopic X-ray powder diffraction scanner (MAXRPD) for cultural heritage purposes. MAXRPD is a technique that allows to visualize the distribution of crystalline compounds in different types of flat macroscopic samples such as paintings or illuminated parchments.

Infrared and Hyperspectral based Inspection:

  • Macroscopic reflectance FTIR (MA-rFTIR) scanner: The device consists of a portable bruker alfpha FTIR spectrometer that is positioned on a xy translation stage, thus making it possible to do a pointwise scanning of larger 2D surfaces
  • SWIR Hyperspectral camera: Snapscan camera in the shortwave infrared, 1100-1700 nm
  • Spectrometer: ASD LabSpec 4 Standard-Res Lab Analyzer (350-2500 nm) (Analytical Spectral Devices).
  • MuSiC: Multi Spectral Inspection System. An in-house built modular translation stage to inspect an object using several different cameras (UV, RGB, Hyper and Multispectral in the visual, near and shortwave infrared range and thermal camera). Also Dynamic line scan thermography can be performed.
  • The ArtISt: Thermal Artwork Inspection System: Am in-house built mobile platform that can perform active thermography over a large inspection area (maximum of 2,3 m2). Specifically used for large canvas artwork inspection.
  • Lock-In and Pulse Thermography system from Edevis System.
  • Flash thermography setup existing of two 6kJ lamps from Hensel.
  • Hyperspectral LabScanner: Translation stage with halogen lighting for hyperspectral line scan measurements. Maximum dimensions of the inspected object are: 20x50x20cm.
  • Hyperspectral rotational scanner. Using an innovative rotational mirror, the hyperspectral camera can be used to scan larger objects in-situ.
