Health Economics in Clinical Research Course

03 – 05 May 2018, University of Antwerp, Campus Drie Eiken, Room O2

Health economics evidence is a key element in much health services research and particularly in health policy decisions. Identifying economic evidence to inform decision-makers can involve searches in a range of databases and using a variety of strategies. However, it can also involve embedding health economic evaluations in clinical trial studies.

If you want your research not only to provide evidence for efficient evidence-based health care, but also provide economic evidence for public health decision-making, it is imperative to include health economic evaluations in your research projects.

This course is a 2.5-day course for health professionals and health researchers who want to understand the basics of health economics and its relevance to the health service.
It will include key guidelines for health economic evaluations and a ‘jargon buster’ session on the basics of health economics and economic models. Furthermore, it will cover the concept of ‘cost of illness’ studies. There will be opportunities for hands-on practice.

An international group of renowned experts will guide you through the basics of health economics to enable you to conduct cost-effectiveness analyses in your next clinical trial. This can help increase your scientific output and adds weight to your research for health policy decisions.
