Several research groups are united in the so called technology consortia. The 8 consortia are clusters of research groups with applications and expertise mainly in the field of biomedical and exact sciences. Companies can call upon the consortia for partnerships and the use of certain technologies or expertise.

The technology consortia are financed by the Industrial Research Fund (IOF). This is an internal fund that is sponsored by the government every year.  These financial resources are used to support basic research in the economic field and are awarded to the universities by means of a distribution key.  The industrial revenues, patents and spin-offs generated by an association have an impact on this distribution key.

Are you interested in social sciences, our colleague Laurens van der Steen will be happy to assist.
