Training

For years the Antwerp Doctoral School (ADS) has been building tailor-made (post)doctoral study programs. To support researchers in building their scientific design and data analysis, ADS offers a range of free courses to sharpen competences or acquire new ones. Visit the ADS website to learn more about the training offered by the ADS, UAntwerpen, and an interuniversity offer.

Specifically, to refine your skills in aspects of Open Science, the ADS offers the courses “Introduction to Data Management Plans” and “Intake to FAIR” aimed at providing basic knowledge and a good understanding of data management plans (DMPs) and FAIR within the research data life cycle.

Every year, ADS hosts a Doctoral Day during which it welcomes new doctoral students, but also offers seminars that could be of interest to doctoral students who have already started their doctoral journey. Some of those seminars include basic concepts of RDM “Introduction to RDM”.

For further information on the courses and the Doctoral Day contact the ADS.

Citizen Science

It might be that you will have an idea of Citizen Science projects, which involve volunteers in scientific research. No problem. The University of Antwerp wants to bridge the gap between university and society, from local to international, and for many years now has actively put the focus on citizen science, which is one of the important aspects of the Open Science movement. Several research groups and scientists have participated in familiar and less familiar citizen science projects or have developed their own successful projects.

Before you start developing your ideas, visit the Citizen Science web pages to learn more about the projects and initiatives or contact Tine Rams for general questions, collaboration, and ideas.
