Our offer and application
What kind of courses does Antwerp Summer and Winter University offer?
Antwerp Summer and Winter University provides a diverse range of high-quality courses across various disciplines, including medicine and health sciences, design sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, business and economics, law, development studies, applied engineering and science.
These short-term programmes combine lectures, workshops, and (company) visits, offering participants the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in specific fields. Each course is designed to provide an immersive educational experience, often accompanied by engaging social activities.
Our programmes are not fully centralised. Instead, each summer or winter school is independently organised by its respective faculty, research group, or expert organiser. This ensures a focused, fast-paced, and intensive week dedicated to a specific subject. However, Antwerp Summer and Winter University is centrally coordinated by the International Relations Office to facilitate group activities across different schools and ensure a streamlined communication and application process.
Upon successful completion, participants can earn ECTS credits, and all certificates are issued as micro-credentials.
What are the entry requirements?
Entry requirements for the summer and winter schools vary depending on the specific programme. Generally, these courses are tailored for (master) students, researchers, and professionals with a keen interest in the subject matter. It's essential to review the specific target group and prerequisites for each course before applying. Detailed information about entry requirements can be found on the individual course pages.
What are the language requirements for the winter and summer schools?
All programmes are conducted in English, so a strong command of the language is essential for attending classes, engaging with professors, completing assignments, etc. While we do not require a specific language certificate for admission, we recommend a minimum English proficiency level of B2 to successfully follow our courses.
When is the application deadline?
Application deadlines vary by programme. To find the exact deadline for a specific course, please check the course page on the Antwerp Summer and Winter University website.
As a general guideline:
- Most June–July summer schools have a May deadline.
- Most August–September summer schools have a June deadline.
For non-EEA students: We strongly recommend applying at least three months in advance, as visa applications can take time. Please note that students are responsible for all visa-related costs, including any cancellation fees.
I've been accepted and have paid my tuition fees. What happens next?

- Choose option I am a student or staff member at UAntwerp
- Username: Use your personal username E.g. sxxxxxxx (seven digits) and you need to add @ad.ua.ac.be
- Password: Use the password for your account.
