The VIB Center for Molecular Neurology is one of 10 research centers of the VIB. In VIB CMN, approximately 120 scientists work in the domain of complex neurological diseases of both the central and peripheral nervous system. The center has a Neuromics Support Facilty focused on state-of-the-art high-throughput genomic analyses, bioinformatic support and histological analyses.
VIB Center for Molecular Neurology at the University of Antwerp is looking for a part-time Information security administrator (IT team)
Position
The position includes the following tasks:
- Linux server system administration (AlmaLinux, Proxmox, Debian, ...)
- Use scripting and automation tools (bash, Ansible, Python, ...)
- Maintain and monitor log management systems
- Handle and respond to security alerts
- Enforce and support security policies and best practices
- Perform internal security audits and follow up on findings
- Report security incidents and support mitigation
- Help develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Raise security awareness in our research center
- You will be part of a small team. While you'll have the opportunity to work independently on specific topics, you will also collaborate closely with the team.
Profile
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, or equivalent competences gained through prior work experience
- Eager to learn, flexible and motivated to work in a dynamic multidisciplinary environment
- Analytical, able to troubleshoot, with a strong preference to work in a supporting role
- Proactive and able to work independently and within a team
- You have good oral and written knowledge of English
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- A passion for open-source software
- Ethical hacker mindset
- Experience in academic settings is a plus
- If you have hands-on Linux administration skills, love to automate, and a passion for security, we’d love to hear from you.

- We offer a part-time, temporary contract for a period of one year. Negotiable between 50% to 80% employment.
