Patricia Popelier is full professor at the law faculty of the University of Antwerp. She is a member and former director of the research group of government and law, and unit director of the research line on multilevel good governance.
Her main research topics are federalism and multilevel governance, constitutional review, legislative studies, and issues of legitimacy and legal certainty. She is co-promoter of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence ACTORE.
She is the author of more than 300 publications in the field of Belgian, European and comparative constitutional law. She is the vice-president of the International Association of Legislation (IAL) and president of the Flemish Interuniversity Center of Legislation (ICW), convenor of the standing research group on subnational constitutions in federal and quasi-federal systems of the International Association of Constitutional Law and member of several journal editorial boards, including the journal Theory and Practice of Legislation (TPLeg), formerly known as Legisprudence.
