How and why do politicians use social media? On Thursday, 7 May, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, we explored this question during the Political Science Alumni Event.

The evening was opened by Prof. Stefaan Walgrave, after which Prof. Peter Van Aelst delivered a lecture on politicians' use of social media, illustrating his points with several timely and humorous examples from both Belgian and international politics. Jos D’Haese then shared his personal experiences as a politician using social media platforms.

During the Q&A session, a number of engaging questions were raised about content strategy and the political economy of social media. Alumni member Nikolas Dom concluded the evening, which was followed by a pleasant networking reception.
