To commemorate the premature death of Dennie Lockefeer at the age of 42, the University Fund, together with Van Moer Logistics and several other partners, established the Dennie Lockefeer Chair

Lockefeer was, and still is, held in high regard within the port community, and especially in the world of inland navigation, for his insights and expertise.

The Dennie Lockefeer Chair has had a brilliant track record in recent years. It has focused on three pillars:

  • Research (short-term research: the future container throughput for inland shipping on the traditional Rhine: a SARIMAX approach; and long-term research: demurrage and detention, intermodality)
  • Education (12 thesis prizes + 5 AINS scholarships)
  • Services (5 lectures + 1 webinar)
