Buses

In Belgium there are three main bus companies:

  • De Lijn in Flanders and from and to Brussels (including trams)
  • MIVB in Brussels (including trams and metro)
  • TEC in Wallonia and from and to Brussels

For more information about timetables, bus lines and prices you can check the website.

De Lijn also has an app for planning your journey and buying tickets.

Salaried staff members who normally commute by metro or bus can apply to have their commuting costs reimbursed. All information about the procedure can be found on the Pintra page of the HR Department (intranet).

Trains

There is only one train company in Belgium, NMBS. The website of NMBS provides information about the various lines, prices and timetables. There is also an app for up-to-date timetable information and buying tickets.

From Antwerp Central Station there are connections to every major Belgian train station. Train tickets can be bought at the train station or online in advance. It is not allowed to board the train without a valid ticket. During weekends (after 7.00 p.m. on Fridays) you can travel with weekend tickets (which gives you a 50% discount on a return ticket). If you are under 26, you can travel with a Go Pass (10 one-way tickets). For people over 26, the Rail Pass applies the same principles but is a little more expensive.

Salaried staff members who normally commute by train can apply to have their commuting costs reimbursed. All information about the procedure can be found on the Pintra page of the HR Department (intranet).
