M HKA stores a collection by Robert Vrielynck (1933-2000): a notary, former teacher at RITCS Brussels, co-founder and principal of the Belgian Animation Film Centre (BAC) and author of books ranging diverse topics of cinematography. Besides film cameras and projecting devices, the collection boasts a rich diversity of lanterns and lantern slides. A part of the lantern slides are typical children’s fairy tales, comic scenes, chromatropes and astronomic slides by well-known producers, such as Carpenter & Westly, Bing en Lapierre. Moreover, the collection holds handmade slides dating from 1911-1912, depicting political caricatures and the accompanying  pillarization battles from the first years of the twentieth century.
