25 OCTOBER (12:00 PM CET): A paradigm shift in translational psychiatry through rodent neuroethology

Lecturer: Yair Shemesh, Ph.D. Prof. Alon Chen’s lab, Department of Neurobiology at the Weizmann Institute of Science

In biological psychiatry, mice animal models and behavioral tests are essential for preclinical investigations of candidate therapeutic agents' mechanisms of action, safety, and efficiency. In this webinar, we will argue that highly controlled behavioral tests in impoverished environments and social contexts as proxies for complex human behavioral disorders might be of limited face validity. Conversely, animal models that are monitored in more naturalistic environments over long periods display complex and ethologically relevant behaviors that reflect evolutionary conserved endophenotypes of translational value. REGISTER NOW
