Dit boek is het resultaat van veertig jaar samenwerking tussen de Universitaire Stichting voor Ontwikkelingssamenwerking (USOS) aan de Universiteit Antwerpen en haar partnerinstellingen in het Zuiden. Het boek probeert een aantal antwoorden te formuleren op de verwoestende gevolgen van klimaatverandering, verlies van biodiversiteit, extractivisme, sociale uitsluiting en groeiende ongelijkheid door de nadruk te leggen op de praktijken en de strijd van lokale en inheemse gemeenschappen. Het boek is een verzameling van inzendingen vanuit het globale partnernetwerk en vertrekt vanuit uiteenlopende disciplines zoals Ontwerpwetenschappen, Medische Wetenschappen, Rechten, Biologie, Economie en Ontwikkelingsstudies.
