The Laboratory of Microbiology, Parasitology and Hygiene (LMPH) of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is looking for a full-time laboratory technician to support research on parasitic diseases drug discovery and vaccination.

Position

You will become part of the Parasitology team, under the supervision of Prof. Alvaro Baeza Garcia and Prof. Guy Caljon, and contribute to the development and routine activities of the team, with a primary focus on drug discovery, molecular biology, and vaccine and drug formulation. Furthermore, you will support the organizational work in the insectary and animal facility. You will be part of an international, English-speaking team.

Profile

  • You have a bachelor's degree in biomedical laboratory technology, biology, biochemistry, or similar.
  • You have knowledge of or experience with techniques such as qPCR, cloning, cell culture, and standard laboratory analyses.
  • You work accurately, independently, and according to SOPs.
  • You are motivated to learn and contribute to projects with a significant national and international impact.
  • You have good oral and written knowledge of English.
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity, and cooperation.
  • Experience working with animals and holding a FELASA certificate is a plus.

Offer

  • We offer you a full-time employment contract of one year, with the possibility of extension. A part-time appointment (minimum 80%) is also negotiable.
  • You will receive a gross monthly salary within pay band 4.1-6.1 of the pay scalesof the Administrative and Technical Staff. Your entry-level grade (usually grade 4) depends on your relevant professional experience. If you work part-time, your salary is calculated proportionally on the basis of your employment percentage.
  • You will receive meal vouchers, ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, a group insurance, an income protection insurance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
  • We offer flexible working hours.
  • You will have 40 days of annual leave and collective leave for 1 week when the university is closed, between Christmas and New Year.
  • You will work at Campus Drie Eiken in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
