Hello, my name is Nikita Shikut, and I come from Moscow, Russia. I am a PhD-candidate for the DC1 position within the OncoProTools project. My bachelor’s and master’s degrees in organic chemistry were completed at Lomonosov Moscow State University. During that time, I found synthetic medicinal chemistry a very captivating field for me. As consequence, I pursued several internships at pharma companies and had a 3-months academic internship sponsored by the DAAD at Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS, Saarbrücken, Germany). As result, this positive experience helped me to pursue PhD study for my future perspective. As a PhD student at the University of Antwerp I will focus on developing and studying new small-molecules for inhibiting Granzyme B, a serine-protease involved in cell apoptosis within CAR T-cell approach.
