UCSIA/IJS-Chair for Jewish-Christian Relations

During the academic year 2008-2009 the University Centre Saint-Ignatius Antwerp and the Institute of Jewish Studies founded a new chair at the University of Antwerp as an expression of their common interest in Jewish-Christian relations. The aim of this chair is to foster the study of Judaism and Hebraism from the perspective of Jewish-Christian dialogue in contemporary Europe.

The University Centre Saint-Ignatius Antwerp (UCSIA)

The main objective of UCSIA, inspired by a Christian belief and in a spirit of openness and tolerance, sustained by the members of the Society of Jesus and of the Antwerp University, is to provide for an international and interdisciplinary platform that supports and stimulates academic research, higher education and community service regarding themes that express the Christian ideology, thus serving the faith and contributing to a more just society. Three core themes form the main focus: faith and justice, faith and culture and interfaith dialogue. UCSIA promotes education and research of a cultural, religious, ethical or spiritual dimension through scholarships for researchers, interdisciplinary conferences, symposia and lectures.
