Research in the gynaecology and obstetrics subunit focusses on:

• Obstetrics:

  • Environment and obstetric outcome including pollution, ethnic and socioeconomic influences;
  • determinants and treatment/prevention of preterm labour; 
  • maternal cardiovascular changes in normal and preeclamptic pregnancy;
  • vitamins and nutrition and pregnancy.
     
• Benign  gynaecology:

  • Intraabdominal treatment to diminish postoperative pain;
  • laparoscopic cerclage techniques;
  • fMRI and menstrual changes in brain architecture.
     
• Reproductive medicine and andrology (sperm DNA fragmentation)
