16 October 2025 - Royal Conservatoire Antwerp

Initiated by Chiara Percivati and Davide Paolillo

What happens when musicians and designers join forces to create freshly baked musical instruments? How does performing on them sound, feel, and look?

The interfaculty laboratory Future Shock Orchestra, focusing on digital lutherie and instrument invention, is one of the places where artistic and technical creativity converge and enrich one another. A collaboration between the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and the Design Faculty of the University of Antwerp, the project offers a space for action and critical reflection. In this performance, students and tutors (ARIA researchers Chiara Percivati and Davide Paolillo) will present the instruments developed during the third edition of the workshop and explore their musical interaction. Afterwards, everyone is invited to try out the instruments!
