The Quantum Choir, a newly formed heavy-folk ensemble at the Conservatoire, dissects folk songs and ancient texts—liturgical and profane—through radical interpretations of devotional music from diverse cultures. Led by interdisciplinary composer Tomer Damsky, the group explores her song collection and vocal methods, forging an idiosyncratic sound with uncompromising energy. This performance shares experiments from Damsky’s project ‘The Voice of Many Waters’, reimagining mystical texts by 16th-century Spanish Carmelite nuns through folk tunes, Iberian polyrhythms, and deconstructed medieval hymns.
