Leftover textiles as a raw material in a circular fashion sector
Unfolding deadstock textiles explores the potential of leftover textiles as a raw material in a circular fashion sector. In a unique collaboration with REantwerp, researchers from the University of Antwerp investigate the (avoided) environmental impact of reusing textile surpluses. REantwerp transforms leftover textiles from other designers into new garments such as trousers, blouses, and T-shirts.
Together with REantwerp, the researchers map the entire value chain and collect data to quantify the (avoided) environmental impact of these garments. In addition, the project examines how the use of textile surpluses can contribute to a more resilient fashion sector, both in Antwerp and beyond.
