Programme

About the lecture

Social media platforms have come to dominate much of our time, but with what effect on democracy? This talk will explore the perils and promise of social media for our political lives. To understand the political effects of social media, this talk will describe results from studies about the effects of social media in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The talk will then explore the possible ways in which social media does, and could, build connections between people.
