Alberto Nicòtina is a PhD Fellow (BOF) in Constitutional Law at the University of Antwerp, Faculty of Law and a member of the Government and Law Research Group. His research interests focus on comparative constitutional law, especially within the EU, with particular reference to the issues of constitutional identity, populism, and the legitimacy of EU law within national contexts. He holds a Master's Degree in Comparative, European, and Transnational Law from the University of Trento, Italy (2018), obtained after spending study and research periods at the universities of Liège (2015), Montpellier (2017), and Brussels, ULB (2018).
Before joining the University of Antwerp, in 2018-2019, Alberto worked at a Milan-based international law firm, where his practice focused on Italian and European environmental law. In 2022, he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute of European Law and Regional Integration of the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) and at Centre of European and Comparative Legal Studies of the University of Copenhagen (Denmark).
