Advice on General Comment No.26 CRC
Three members of the Law and Development Research Group, Dr. Kata Dozsa; Prof. Wouter Vandenhole and Assist. Prof. Gamze Erdem Türkelli have submitted expert advise to the Convention on the Rights of the Child monitoring body which has launched the Draft General Comment on Children’s Rights and the Environment with a Special Focus on Climate Change (General Comment No. 26). The contribution addresses in particular the children’s rights approach to intergenerational equity, access to information and participation in environmental/climate change matters as well as the right to environmental education. The submission also highlights the global responsibility of the States and Businesses for harms caused by emissions to children.
The General Comment No. 26 is expected to be launched in 2023.
