Scriptieprijs Cultuurmanagement en -beleid

Het Fonds voor Cultuurmanagement van de Universiteit Antwerpen reikt opnieuw een prijs uit voor een doctoraatsstudie in het cultuurmanagement. Dit jaar slaat het Fonds de handen hiervoor in elkaar met ENCATC. Meer info onder (in het Engels).

2021 ENCATC Research Award: CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Every year the Cultural Management Fund from the University of Antwerp awards a prize to the best master or doctoral thesis in the field of Cultural Management and Policy. For the 2021 edition we again award a doctoral thesis by joining forces with ENCATC, The European Network on Cultural Management and Policy.
This prestigious recognition aims to stimulate academic research in the field of cultural management and cultural policy with an emphasis on its applied implications. The Award also has the ambition to contribute to the process of creating a network of scholars who are competent in doing ground-breaking research projects in cultural policy and cultural management.
An international Jury will evaluate the applications and select the 3 finalists. The winner will be selected and announced at the occasion of the ENCATC Research Award Ceremony to be organised on the 22nd of October in an online format.
The Award consists of the winning doctoral thesis being published in the Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Education Book Series, a series of publications specializing in topics related to cultural management and cultural policy headed by ENCATC and funded by the Cultural Management Fund. The international dissemination of the ENCATC Book Series is ensured by Peter Lang, an international publishing group. In order to be published, the winner will be asked to provide ENCATC with a proof edited manuscript in English.
For this Research Award, a very broad definition of culture is used, going from the arts, heritage and culture and creative sectors. Doctoral thesis submitted to the call should be related to the domain of cultural management and or policy. 
Assessment criteria will be based on: 
  • Quality of the research and the research methodology;
  • Originality of the research topic;
  • Innovative character of the research design;
  • Relevance and inspiration for the field and/or for policy makers;
  • International and comparative dimension of the research;
  • Quality of writing.

HOW TO APPLY 

1. Check your eligibility 
The Research Award targets emerging researchers in the field of cultural policy and cultural management up from Europe and the rest of the world.The doctoral thesis submitted to the call must have been recently successfully defended (up to 4 years after completion of the thesis) and should have the highest qualification in your country’s higher education system. The doctoral thesis are accepted in any languages. However, the applicant should submit an extensive summary in English. Please see instructions below, point 3. 
2. Find support to your application 
Each Award applicant must be supported by his or her university in the form of two letters of recommendation by the members of university's jury/assessment board involved in the public defense process. 
3. Prepare your application and submit documents 
Applicant must fill in the online application form and upload the following documents into the online application system: 
  • CV 
  • A cover letter 
  • Original table of contents of the doctoral thesis and a link to the full text
  • A 3,000 word summary of the doctoral thesis in English including:
    • Aim of the study and research questions
    • Theoretical framework
    • Methodological approaches, data collection and analysis, and ethical considerations
    • Main results of the study
    • Theoretical and practical contributions to the field of cultural management and/or policy
    • Main references 
  • ​• Letters of recommendation of two members of university's jury/assessment board involved in the defense process.

Van Prijs Cultuurmanagement tot Ultima voor Cultureel Ondernemerschap

Er werd door het Fonds tot 2010 jaarlijks een Prijs voor de meest verdienstelijke cultuurmanager van het jaar uitgereikt. Deze eer viel al te beurt aan Sylvie Dhaene van het huis van Alijn, Barbara Wyckmans, directeur van HetPaleis, Jerry Aerts van deSingel en Walter Rycquart.

Vanaf 2011 reikt het Bilsen Fonds samen met de Vlaams Gemeenschap de Prijs Cultuurmanagement van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap i.s.m. het Fonds voor Cultuurmanagement uit. De laureaten waren al  de spinoff van Vooruit: YesPlan (2011); het Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (2012) en Ancienne Belgique (2013).

Sinds 2014 is deze prijs omgedoopt tot Vlaamse Cultuurprijs voor Cultureel Ondernemerschap. Deze Cultuurprijs werd voor 2014 uitgereikt aan Swen Vincke van gamesstudio Larian. In 2015 viel de eer te beurt aan Maarten Van Cauwenberghe van dansgezelschap Voetvolk. Vanaf 2016 werden de Vlaamse Cultuurprijzen omgedoopt tot Ultimas. De eerste Ultima voor Cultureel Ondernemerschap werd uitgereikt in 2016 aan Timelab. De Ultima 2017 voor Cultureel Ondernemerschap werd toegekend aan Paul Schyvens, coördinator en bezieler van De Roma. In 2019 ging de Ultima voor Cultureel Ondernemerschap naar Allez Chantez! van Annelore Camps en alumna van de master cultuurmanagement, Laila De Bruyne.
