About Carola Ebert

Carola Ebert was born in Berlin. She studied architecture (TU Berlin, 1998) and architectural history and theory (Bartlett, UCL, London, 2001). She received her doctorate from Kassel University for a dissertation on the architectural and cultural history of the West-German modernist bungalow 1952–1969. After running her own architecture studio, she taught in various settings at different German universities. She worked at the bologna.lab for new ways of teaching and learning at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and as a coach for architects and designers.

Her research interests focus on the theorization of interior architecture, 20th-century homes, architecture and design didactics, and the image/self-perception of (interior) architects. She is council member for research of the European Interior Educators network (EIE), and was a visiting lecturer on the MA Interior Design at the Royal College of Art, London (RCA) in 2019–20.

Prof. Dr. Ebert teaches history and theory of architecture and design, and design projects – primarily on the BA and MA Interior Architecture/Interior Design. She served as the faculty's Dean and Head of Program for both Interior MA Programs and as Chair of Bl’s Research Commission and Ethics Commission.
