This chair studies the role of beta-papillomaviruses (HPV) in the development and clinical course of skin tumours.

More specifically, the prevalence and the role of beta-papillomaviruses in the development of basal cell carcinoma (skin tumours) is investigated. The research also focuses on the further clinical course of these tumours and the role that HPV detection can play in the diagnosis of these common skin tumours.
