This chair aims to analyse the causes of muscle strain injuries in arduous physical occupations and to prevent them through interventions, follow-up and change management. This involves multidisciplinary movement coaching, stabilisation training and the development of ergonomic aids.

The target group consists of container handlers who work in the Port of Antwerp. These dock workers have the arduous task of securing and detaching cargo containers on ships. The goal is to make this 'bottleneck profession' (a difficult-to-fill position) more ergonomic and workable through improved training, coaching and tools.
