Effective teaching requires more than subject-matter expertise alone. In this session, participants are introduced to the basic principles of effective teaching in higher education. Attention is given to how lecturers can design learning environments that foster engagement and understanding. The session also focuses on interaction between lecturers and students, including why and how students can be activated through meaningful learning activities, and how a culture of activation can be supported. In addition, basic principles of classroom management are discussed as a foundation for creating a positive and productive learning climate.
After this session, you will be able to:
- identify the core principles of effective teaching in higher education;
- explain the added value of activating teaching methods;
- apply basic strategies to actively engage students;
- describe fundamental principles of classroom management in higher education.
